Is Botox the Right Choice for Your Wrinkles?

Many medical spa treatments are effective for minimizing the appearance of wrinkles, including Botox. This particular injectable is used for moderate to severe frown lines and crow’s feet. If you’re troubled by these types of wrinkles, and you’d rather avoid invasive options, then Botox could be the right choice for you. This treatment is also ideal for individuals who desire aesthetic improvements that do not require taking time away from usual activities.

Talk to your provider about your medical history. He or she will compare your health history to the list of contraindications for Botox to ensure it’s safe for you to use. In particular, your provider should know if you’re pregnant, breastfeeding, planning surgery, or taking medications or supplements, or if you have any medical conditions that can affect your muscles or nerves.

Botox anti-aging treatments are available in Dallas at EpiCentre—a premier medical spa known for our patient-centered approach. Request an appointment by calling (214) 887-1577.

Tackling Aging Skin with Thermage

Wrinkles are one of the most common complaints people have about their aging skin. Everyone will develop wrinkles eventually, particularly individuals who have had lots of unprotected exposure to the sun. But just because wrinkles are inevitable doesn’t mean you can’t fight them effectively. Thermage can help. This med spa treatment uses radiofrequency energy to tighten the skin and encourage a youthful appearance.

How Thermage Works
Radiofrequency energy has been used to treat wrinkles for more than a decade, and medical spa providers trust its excellent track record of safety and effectiveness. The treatment begins with a comfortable cool-down of the skin to protect the surface layers. Then, the device targets energy to the treatment area. This energy penetrates underneath the skin, where it acts on the collagen. The treatment finishes with another cool-down of the surface skin.

What It Does
By remodeling the structure beneath the skin, this treatment produces smoother, more even skin. It results in a more youthful look, with facial features that have better definition. Bulges, dimples, and wrinkles are all minimized. These exceptional results are produced without the need for surgery, injections, or downtime.

What to Expect
When you arrive at the med spa, the provider will examine your skin and ask you some questions about your cosmetic goals. You’ll have the opportunity to ask your questions about the procedure and what to expect afterward. Thermage can be used to treat the face or neck, or larger body areas. Your provider will adjust the equipment and place the device over the areas to be treated. You’ll feel alternating heating and cooling sensations. It typically takes less than an hour to treat the face. If you’re treating a larger body area, your appointment may last up to 90 minutes.

How Results Develop
Just one treatment is all that’s needed to see real results from Thermage. You’ll start seeing results soon after your treatment. During the following six months, you’ll continue to notice improvements in your skin’s youthfulness. This is because Thermage regenerates collagen, which is a gradual process.

Before and After Laser Skin Resurfacing: What to Expect

laser skin resurfacing dallas

Ultraviolet (UV) rays, gravity, the aging process, and lifestyle habits can all take a toll on your skin over time. These factors can affect your skin’s texture, tone, resiliency, and evenness. But with laser skin resurfacing, you don’t have to let your age show. Know what to expect before you go, and don’t hesitate to speak up if you have any questions for the med spa provider.

You’ll have a consultation before your laser skin resurfacing appointment. Bring information about your medical history, including current medications, allergies, medical conditions, and prior surgeries. Your provider needs to know about previous skin treatments you may have had, such as prescription medications for acne or chemical peels. Your provider will determine whether you’re a good candidate for laser skin resurfacing, and then will give you some pre-treatment instructions to follow.

You may be asked to make a few changes to your usual routine for several weeks prior to having laser skin resurfacing. It’s essential to avoid unnecessary sun exposure, and to apply sunscreen every two hours, every day. Your med spa provider might also ask you to do the following:

  • Discontinue certain topical products
  • Quit smoking
  • Take any prescribed oral medications
  • Apply special creams or gels

At the start of your appointment, your provider will numb your skin and may administer a sedative to help you stay comfortable. Your skin will be cleansed and you will be given eye protection.

Each individual’s recovery process is a little different, and depends in part on the specific type of treatment. In most cases, the skin will recover in about one to two weeks. Follow your provider’s aftercare instructions. You may need to apply ointment to support the healing process, and you must apply sunscreen every day. Within the first two weeks, your treated skin will peel, and new skin will form. The pinkness of your skin will linger for several weeks.

Laser skin resurfacing is one of our specialties here at EpiCentre Skin Care & Laser Center. It’s our mission to help our clients feel confident with their appearance. If you’re thinking about having laser skin resurfacing, and you live near Dallas, give us a call today at (214) 887-1577.
