Hyperhidrosis and miraDry: Get the Facts

miradry dallas

Hyperhidrosis is a common medical condition that is characterized by excessive sweating. It’s normal to sweat when it’s hot, during exercise, or when you’re nervous. But if you sweat excessively despite an absence of obvious triggers, then you might have hyperhidrosis. If left untreated, hyperhidrosis can be embarrassing, and the sweat stains can ruin your favorite shirts. Regain control of your life by visiting a medical spa to ask about getting treated with miraDry.

How It Works
This technology is an FDA-approved, noninvasive treatment for giving hyperhidrosis patients lasting relief of excessive underarm sweating. It works by emitting electromagnetic energy from a handheld device. The med spa provider directs the energy at the underarm skin, and it penetrates through to the sweat glands. Through the process of thermolysis, the sweat glands are destroyed. Since sweat glands cannot regenerate, the treated glands can no longer produce sweat. Everyone needs sweat glands, but the ones in your armpits are superfluous. The majority of your sweat glands are located elsewhere, so your body will continue to function as it should without the glands in the underarms.

What It Feels Like
Since you’ll have your underarms numbed before the treatment, you shouldn’t feel much of anything. You’ll be comfortably reclined during your treatment, which should last about an hour. Once the numbness wears off, you may experience some swelling, tingling, and soreness in the underarm area. These side effects will go away within a few days to a few weeks.

How Many Treatments You’ll Need
Most patients get great results with just one treatment. However, everyone is a little different. Your medical spa provider will recommend an appropriate treatment plan for you.

What to Expect Afterward
You can return to your usual activities right after your appointment. However, you should avoid exercise for a few days. Your underarms may be a little uncomfortable during this time.

At EpiCentre, it’s our mission to help you feel confident with your body. If you’d like to learn more about miraDry, or about our anti-aging treatments available in Dallas, we invite you to schedule a one-on-one consultation with a provider. Get in touch today at (214) 887-1577.

Reclaim Your Confidence with diVa Laser Vaginal Therapy

diva vaginal laser therapy dallas

Women go through many changes over a lifetime, including changes to their vaginal health. Childbirth causes the vaginal tissue to stretch and sustain damage. Other changes, such as menopause, cause declines in estrogen levels. This makes the vaginal walls drier, thinner, and inflamed. These vaginal changes can affect a woman’s self-confidence, sexual health, and emotional wellness. Now, there’s a revolutionary laser treatment to improve vaginal health: diVa therapy.

Visit a med spa to ask if diVa therapy might be right for you. The treatment takes only three to five minutes, and it causes minimal discomfort. No anesthetic is necessary, but you can ask for a topical anesthetic if you have a low pain tolerance. Afterward, you can resume your normal activities right away. However, you should avoid sexual activity for 48 hours.

EpiCentre is a leading med spa in Dallas that provides a full menu of state-of-the-art services, including diVa therapy. You can request your confidential consultation by calling (214) 887-1577.

How to Hang on to Your CoolSculpting Results

coolsculpting dallas

The permanent destruction of fat cells sounds like a dream come true for many men and women. With CoolSculpting, it can be a reality. CoolSculpting is a safe, noninvasive, FDA-approved treatment that uses cryolipolysis technology to destroy fat cells, while leaving other tissues alone. During the next few weeks, your body naturally gets rid of the dead fat cells. Once fat cells are destroyed, your body can’t regenerate them. However, it’s still possible to regain fat in the treated areas, since the remaining fat cells can become larger. Healthy lifestyle choices will let you maintain your CoolSculpting results for a lifetime.

Stay aware of your body and its changes.
Body awareness is something you can practice. Some CoolSculpting patients like to weigh themselves regularly to make sure they aren’t slipping with their meal plans. Remember that small fluctuations in weight are normal. If your scale reveals that you’ve suddenly gained two pounds overnight, it’s due to water weight, not fat. Practice mindfulness while enjoying meals too. People who eat in a distraction-free environment are less likely to overeat. Some fitness enthusiasts also swear by yoga for developing greater body awareness.

Embrace an active lifestyle.
As a general rule of thumb, most adults should try to exercise for at least 30 minutes at least five days per week, plus a couple of strength training sessions during the week. But even if you exercise regularly, it won’t do much good if the rest of your day is spent sitting down. Try to work more physical activity into your entire day. Do chair exercises at your desk, walk to a park on your lunch break, or challenge the neighborhood kids to shoot some hoops with you.

Kick the sugar habit.
Some nutrition experts argue that too much sugar can be even worse than too much fat in your diet. Sugar can even cause changes in the brain, making you crave even more sugar. Avoid foods with added sugar, and instead satisfy your sweet tooth with fresh fruit. Your waistline will thank you.

If you’re curious about CoolSculpting and live near Dallas, you can consult a provider at EpiCentre. We are a state-of-the-art med spa that is dedicated to helping our patients look and feel their best at every age. Call our friendly staff at (214) 887-1577.

What Can Thermage Treat? (And Other Common Questions)

thermage dallas

Medical technology has come a long way over the past few decades, and in cosmetic medical care, there have been many advancements in non-surgical treatments to address concerns like sagging skin, wrinkles, dimples, and cellulite. Though these imperfections are far from uncommon, you don’t have to live with them when you can consider safe, non-invasive treatment options like Thermage in Dallas. Thermage uses radiofrequency waves to heat and energize the deep layers of your skin to restructure the skin from within—leaving you with a noticeably more youthful appearance and softer, smoother skin. In this article, you’ll learn what exactly this technology can treat and what you can expect when you visit your med spa for your anti-aging skincare.

What does Thermage treat?
Thermage is primarily used to treat fine lines, wrinkles and sagging skin on the body, though it can also address dimpled, uneven skin in certain areas as well as temporarily improve the appearance of cellulite. You might consider Thermage treatment for the abdomen, arms, hands, thighs and buttocks. It is important to remember, however, that Thermage is only intended to approve the appearance of the skin, and it is not a weight loss or body sculpting procedure.

How does Thermage work?
When radiofrequency energy reaches the deeper layers of the skin, it will heat up the cells to restructure existing collagen and boost new collagen production. Collagen is what keeps the skin tight and smooth, so the process of stimulating it will help improve the appearance of the skin immediately and over the weeks following your treatment.

What will treatment feel like?
You will only need one session of Thermage to see dramatic results, and treatment will not cause significant downtime. During treatment, you’ll experience a brief cooling sensation followed by a deep warming sensation, similar to a deep tissue massage. This is followed by another cooling sensation, as well as a gentle vibration to reduce discomfort. Your provider will continuously check in to be sure that you remain comfortable throughout the session.

To learn more about Thermage and other advanced cosmetic treatments, schedule a consultation with EpiCentre. You can reach us online or by calling (214) 887-1577.
